Evidence syntheses across VISION

VISION is synthesising evidence on violence and abuse. We are producing systematic, scoping and rapid evidence reviews.

Evidence-based medicine refers to systematic reviews as the top of a ‘hierarchy of evidence’. However, applying the method to evidence on violence and abuse is not without challenges, as standardised frameworks and approaches do not always provide space for reflection on the process and its implications.

VISION presented on these challenges at an EPPI Centre Evidence for Policy and Practice London Evidence Syntheses and Research Use Seminar. The symposium, Producing evidence syntheses on violence and abuse: reflections on the disciplinary variations and practicalities, prompted discussion about how systematic review methodologies can be adapted to better synthesis evidence on violence and abuse.
